He felt a responsibility to serve in his community because of the hardships his working-class family experienced.Royce used his love for education and speaking to make a difference. He continues his work as an educational consultant lecturing in K-12 schools, universities, and federal agencies.<h4>Royce fights back against the attack on diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility initiatives.</h4>The tragic killing of George Floyd demonstrated an activism that Royce believes frightened some Republican leaders. Scores of supporters of racial justice took to the streets to make their voices heard. This has led to concerted right-wing efforts to create division by banning books, attacking DEIA, and minimizing Black History. He has coached youth track and field since 2007. Royce has helped many young people move closer to their goals.

Our Campaign’s Top Issues

Royce believes that reproductive health care should be between a woman, her family, and her doctor. The Dobbs decision given by the conservative right-wing leaning Supreme Court has taken a right that was codified in law over 50 years ago. IVF is now under attack and extremist Republicans are to blame. Americans have spoken with their votes all across America to let elected officials know their position on this important issue. Royce finds it discriminatory that in some states that it has been reported a woman can't receive an abortion, but men can get a vasectomy.

Royce believes that reproductive health care should be between a woman, her family, and her doctor. The Dobbs decision given by the right-wing leaning Supreme Court has taken a right that was codified in law over 50 years ago. IVF is now under attack and extremist Republicans are to blame.

Reproductive Freedom

Royce believes that America must support its allies. Israel has the right to protect itself from foreign invaders and those who wish to do it harm. At the same time, Israel must do so in a manner that adheres to the rules of war and that minimizes casualties of innocent men, women, and children. Royce is calling for a REGIONAL ceasefire. He believes that Houthi rebels, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Israel should stop fighting so that American service people incur no more injuries and fatalities, that Israeli hostages can be released, and that humanitarian aid can be supplied to Palestinians who desperately need it. He wants Americans to know that supporting a country does NOT mean that there is support for everything an administration of that country does. For example, the Biden Administration is calling for Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the Israeli government, to do more to get humanitarian aid to Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

The Gaza War

Royce believes in fixing America’s broken immigration policy. In 2016, The Obama and Biden administration had crossings at the southern border down at its lowest point in 50 years at that point. Even though the Trump administration had a Republican-led House of Representatives and Senate, they did not pass comprehensive immigration reform policies. Recently, Republican James Lankford from Oklahoma proposed immigration legislation that was ultimately dismissed by Republicans reportedly from the direction of former President Trump. Royce believes that Republicans do not want to fix the problem at the southern border and just want to use it as a political weapon against Democrats and the reelection efforts of President Joe Biden.

Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Royce believes that all Americans should be engaged in the political process. As a former social studies teacher, he thinks there is a connection between low voter turnout and civic education. Royce believes that more citizens would participate if they knew what their local, state, and federal governments do for and with them. Also, Royce thinks that extremists from the left and right take advantage of citizens who are poorly informed.

Royce believes that all Americans should be engaged in the political process. As a former social studies teacher, he thinks that there is a connection between low voter turnout and civic education.

He seeks common-sense gun reform by making weapons of war illegal again. Royce believes that illegal guns should be kept out of our communities. He supports funding to improve community policing efforts and passing the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act.

Safer Neighborhoods

Royce has been a champion for affordable housing and homeownership for many years. Detroit has the 3rd highest increase in residential rental rates in America. This is a problem. He wants to assist constituents in determining if they are eligible for housing assistance from the state of Michigan and the federal government as a way of mitigating these costs. Royce wants to help prepare constituents for the possible impact of future extreme weather events.

Royce has been a champion for affordable housing and homeownership for many years. Detroit has the 3rd highest increase in residential rental rates in America. This is a problem. He wants to assist constituents in determining if they are eligible for housing assistance from the state of Michigan and the federal government as a way of mitigating these costs.

Affordable Housing

He worked with a community organization called Focus Hope to help improve the life and job skills of returning citizens in a program called Flip the Script. Royce believes that citizens should be upskilled and reskilled to be qualified for the high-tech manufacturing jobs created by the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act under the Biden and Harris administration. Also, Royce will work tirelessly to help entrepreneurs and small business owners. He hopes to help citizens start, scale, and make highly profitable businesses in the community. Royce supported the passage of the Infrastructure and Good Jobs Act which helped repair roads, bridges, and tunnels and bring thousands of manufacturing jobs back to the American people.

Royce believes that every American should have the opportunity to experience life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness by having a well-paying job. He thinks that these jobs should not be paid differently based on gender, race, sexual orientation, gender identification, religion, etc.

Better Paying Jobs

Royce will work hard to lower healthcare, childcare, and education costs, and the increasing prices of prescription medicines. He proudly supported the Inflation Reduction Act. Medicare will be able to use its substantial buying power to negotiate lower costs for prescription drugs. Additionally, the price of insulin will be capped at $35 a month for those enrolled in Medicare. Likewise, heating and energy costs will also be lowered by the Inflation Reduction Act by helping make homes more efficient. Royce is looking forward to fighting in Congress to expand the Child Tax Credit.

America incarcerates more people than any other in the world. That should not be so. Royce supports reform in education, mental health, and passing the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act. He has worked with Focus Hope in a program called Flip the Script which was created to help returning citizens improve their skills and develop strategies that would decrease recidivism and improve their life opportunities.

Criminal Justice Reform

The National Assessment of Educational Progress, (NAEP) has reported that for the first time in its reporting history, American children’s test scores in math and reading have decreased. Unfortunately, the drop has been most significant among minority students. Royce believes that students are in an academic, social, and emotional crisis. He believes that there should be a reauthorization of funds. He believes that there should be a reauthorization of funds in Congress that expired to address these concerns. Royce supports the Safer Communities Act and its funding of mental health services for students. He believes more can be done for young people and their parents.
